JESUS SAID

“Foxes haves holes; birds have nests.”

But The Son of Man has not!

Has not a place to lay His head,

Though in need weary oft!

.

.

I left my home in heaven above!

Took on a servants strain

To lift, to serve, what then?  To die?

A God for sinners slain!

.

.

I knew no sin though tempted strong!

As Man I suffered loss!

Then as Christ for sinners slain!

Troubled oft tempest tossed!

.

.

“Peace, be still,” for storm and wave.

The elements obeyed!

Man alone with stubborn will,

Resists then sore dismayed!

.

.

Humbled some have come to Me,

To resist no more.

Submitted then to cruel death

To bring some safe to shore.

.

.

For I so loved this hell-bent world…

The crucifixion scene

Became a grim reality not

Just a dreaded dream.

.

.

I did my utmost, not up to you!

Your deal must accept!

What I have done for all mankind

Personalize this concept!

.

.

Just accept as simple as that.

Accepting My death as your own!

Dies as a sinner, (sins punishment!

I took it alone!)

THE ONLY SINLESS ONE

I was far from God, myself, but He always stayed close to me.

I know it now but way back then it just did not seem to be.

.

Though I often wondered why men around me dropped like flies

While each and every skirmish found me fit.  Sure, I wondered why!

.

Close calls many, many and often enough so I could see,

Now I see it so much later that God had His Hand on me!

.

But the others, way too many, killed or wounded, did God care?

Screaming, dying!  But crucifixion!  Now just ask me, did He share?

.

Yes, He suffered, agonizing!  Cannot you sense the pain He bore?

Writhing!  Yes, a slow death, dying!  Look, now see the nails that tore!

.

Crown of thorns they pressed down on Him, hid His face with bloody gore!

Mary, weeping, cries out weakly in her anguish, “Please, no more!”

.

Jesus, gasping, joins together, “Mother, Son,” they loved the most!

Then as if to cease her torture breathes His last, gave up the ghost!

.

For me!  Yes, for me He suffered!  Must I share His agony?

To a bloody pulp they lashed Him.  Then they hung Him on that tree!

.

Lost a lot of weight in combat, suffered some, but you do, too!

Cannot compare with His grim anguish which He bore for me and you.

.

Sure we think we suffer torment for our own sins!  Yes, it is true!

But sinless, He, our tortured Savior, what He suffered very few—

.

Could ever experience!  For such love we cannot know.

Unless we, for sins of others, willingly to our death go.

.

He alone is sinless!  He alone could qualify!

HOW GREAT HIS LOVE

My Jesus, I love you.

I do clearly see

Your love for me proven

In dying for me!

.

.

As though You were showing

All those who stood by,

Your nature was truly

“True God”,” I must die!”

.

.

So impressed was Saint Peter

Deserving his crown,

Declared His crucifixion

On his cross upside down!

.

.

Unworthy his feeling

A heart of pure gold!

The pain that he suffered

Though it was never retold.

.

.

No comparison here,

Just a mention to show

Where true love for the Master

Would prompt one to go!

.

.

True coward!  Am I when

Confronted with pain!

“Oh, God!”  I would cry out,

“Please help me remain!”

.

.

Yes!  The nearness of God’s

Holy Spirit, I would plead!

In my own strength I would falter,

This I would truly concede!

.

.

But the suffering Savior,

Just a lifetime of grief!

Consummated on Calvary!

Would you call that relief?

.

.

Aside from the knowledge

Of what must be done

To bring forth salvation

To sinners each one!

.

.

Aside from that knowledge

There would be no cross

Jesus safe in His kingdom

Yes, we would all suffer loss!

.

.

But He suffered loss!  How great His love!

DIVINE DIALOGUE

Keep in touch with Jesus,

See Him on the throne.

God the Father, stands by

While God the Son leaves home.

.

.

God the Son descending

Planet earth, His aim,

To live and die for sinners

Yes, that is why He came.

.

.

“I made those people,” God said

“It is true,” said the Son,

If not for Lucifer, they

Would be safe everyone!

.

.

“I will go.  Assume sins wages.

I will die for their sins!”

Then God the Father trembled

The Heavens shook within!

.

.

Become human?  Bad enough!

But to face Satan, too?

It is true.  Jesus answered,

“This I will do!”

.

.

“Yes, I know,” said the Father,

As He sadly looked away!

Gabriel knew the enemy

And prepared for the fray!

.

.

An unseen shield was spread

Over Mother and Child!

The Holy Child grew safely

From all sin undefiled!

.

.

“Yes, I know you!” Satan smiled.

The wilderness was bleak.

Full forty days he had fasted

And sleepless, He was weak!

.

.

“Make bread of these stones,”

Devil growled, knew he was failing.

Tormented, Jesus cried out,

“Be done with this assailing!”

.

.

Jesus knew it was not over

The temptations would not end!

His last trick, crucifixion!

With this Christ must contend!

.

.

But the end was the beginning!

His resurrection gained

Salvation for believers!

And cleansing from sins stain!

.

.

Hallelujah!  Christ arose!

.

.

SHADOW OF THE CROSS

Can you see Jesus’ shadow out there?

Forming a cross on the sod?

Think He knew that He would suffer and die?

For every man’s sins, as God?

.

.

Suppose that this boy growing up,

Sensed that His freedom to live

Would be curtailed in His prime,

With nothing at all to give?

.

.

Think that as He fed multitudes,

The thousands seated out there,

He knew before that crucifixion,

Would shorten His life so fair?

.

.

Would temptation to flee such suffering,

His human right contained,

Like overthrew the prophecy,

So that man in sin remained.

.

.

Would a loving God succumb to such

Temptation?  Think, humanity,

Lose self in some deserted cave?

Forget about you and me?

.

.

The Savior’s ever consuming love,

Would not be constrained!

Or cause any forgetfulness,

Suspect to a Savior’s name!

.

.

He came to save us!  Carry our sins,

All of them!  To that hanging!

Can such fortitude again be found,

By spikes, holding there dangling?

.

.

I think not!  Till the death, finally!

Brings a sighing end

Continuous!  Suffering!  Such

To make other human bend!

.

.

But did He bend, give in, to sin?

We all know, He did not!

Savoir of all people!  Sinless I see!

No sin could ever blot!

.

.

Sinless!  So that He could forgive!

CROSS – THE ANSWER

My God, You are so wonderful to me!

You are wonderful and I see,

Creator God and lover of a  !

And ruling in Majesty!

.

.

But despised and hated, Satan’s first cause.

Christ, rejected by men

Crucified, died in agony!

Still our Savior when…

.

.

Once accepted and leave Devils Den,

Saved!  For Eternity

Devil is angered!  And we rejoice!

Each day, forever FREE!

.

.

Your beauty exceeds all the Angels,

Reflected in all you have made!

That everlasting sky!  Gorgeous flowers!

Resting in evening shade!

.

.

Crystal pools from waterfalls fed!

Rocks made smooth by all

The water falling, weather beaten.

Yes, I hear the call!

.

.

Call of the weathered, stronger because

Of toughening storms of life.

As man, Jesus, stronger through trials,

Sleepless, praying through strife!

.

.

And truly dread through Eternity of

The life you would have to lead.

Suffering and crucifixion

Laughed!  As they watched you bleed!

.

.

Crucified GOD!  Hard to reconcile,

Their maker, loving, true!

Still He cried out, “Father, forgive them,

They know NOT what they do!”

.

.

Ever since Adam and Eve disobeyed,

Reflection of Satan’s place.

Cross only answer to sinfulness.

And Heaven’s Eternal Grace!

A CRUCIFIED FRIEND

Nearer heaven now, sin no longer attracts!

Is that what aging is about?

Out living desire to do the wrong things

Consideration to doubt!

.

.

Of course not!  It is not the normal way,

True believer I claimed!

Preaching the Gospel for 35 years,

True I had doubts that shamed!

.

.

Did those Disciples, Christ’s followers,

Ever doubt Christ’s claims?

Many miracles!  Were they believing or

Were they sometime ashamed–

.

.

To admit to doubts, of course, it is natural!

But still we remain true!

From a small boy’s lunch the miracle

Of course!  Natural thing to do!

.

.

Crucifixion, one disciple and Mary,

His mother there observed!

The  horror!  Suffering between two thieves,

But absent as though Christ deserved–

.

.

No better.  Matthew back to collecting taxes

From already oppressed,

Rest of them sure all, except the beloved

John and the Mary, sore distressed.

.

.

Mourning there by that horrible cross

Suffering as none other could!

For hours dangling there by just nails!

As only criminals should.

.

.

Then one criminal like to gladden the heart

Of Savior, “Remember me when…”

Oh, yes!  This day with Me in Paradise!

Savior, the criminal, be-friend!

.

.

Also, this ole’ boy, very soon Spirited,

Of course, with body glorified,

Of course, no idea when but the where?

In the new life magnified!

.

.
